2017 Loubejac Chardonnay

40.00

Tasting Notes:

Crystalline aromatics of key lime, meyer lemon, chalk, green mango and white flowers. Bright acidity compliments pure flavors of yellow citrus, sweet lime and crushed rocks. Loubejac is dry, mineral and agile on the palate with a long finish which is brilliant and polished.

Vineyard Notes:

100% Willamette Valley Chardonnay from Loubejac Vineyard

Organically farmed, non-irrigated Dijon clone 96 Chardonnay

Planted in Helmick/Willakenzie silty clay loam soils in 2007/2008 on 101-14 rootstock

Vines spaced 5x8, facing northeast and ranging from 350ft-380ft on a 6% slope

Vinification Notes:

Pressed hard as whole clusters, the juice from Loubejac was sulfured in the pan and settled overnight. After transferring to barrel for fermentation, the juice was gently chaptalized and fermentation commenced with native yeasts. Full malolactic conversion took place. Selected yeasts completed fermentation. After one year in one once-filled and neutral French oak barrels, the wine was blended and transferred to stainless steel for a second winter on lees. After nearly six months in steel on lees, a light fining with bentonite prepared the wine to be bottled unfiltered. 2.5 barrels produced.
